We’re Rick and Renée Butcher, and we’re so excited to share our dream with you – Parkside Acoustic Bed & Breakfast.

Years ago, we stayed at a traditional B&B for the first time – the kind where the owners live on-site, cook you breakfast, and chat with you over coffee like old friends. We loved the experience so much, we started dreaming about opening one of our own. It took nearly a decade (and a whole lot of life in between), but here we are!

We both grew up in the Portland area and met back in high school – in choir class, of all places. By our junior year, we were engaged. But life had other plans, and we went our separate ways. Fast-forward almost thirty years, and we got a second chance – something we never saw coming but are endlessly grateful for.

Rick’s been a frontman and vocalist for decades – music is in his bones. He’s the guy who’ll make you laugh, pour you a cup of coffee, and have you trading stories before you know it. He brings the energy and the rhythm to this place.

I (Renée) come from a background in education, music, and creative writing. I’ve always loved nourishing people – body and soul – and you’ll see that play out in a thousand little details around the house, the cozy spaces, and the breakfasts I love to cook (many of which come from my food blog, The Good Hearted Woman).

Together, we make a pretty great team. We especially love writing songs and playing music together – close harmonies are our sweet spot. (Think Everly Brothers, Eagles, Beach Boys, Carpenters… you get the vibe.)

Parkside Acoustic is truly a blend of everything we love: music, connection, good food, and a sense of home. Whether you’re visiting Ashland for the theater, the trails, or just a little peace and quiet, we hope this place offers you a soft landing – and maybe even a little inspiration.
