🌿 Things to Do in Lithia Park This Month
October changes the mood in Lithia Park. The summer crowds have thinned, the afternoons are often still wonderfully mild, and the trees begin putting on their autumn show along Ashland Creek. It’s also a beautiful time to wander through the Japanese Garden, tucked into the park just a two-minute walk from our front porch, where the changing foliage makes an already peaceful little corner especially lovely. This month’s calendar brings Southern Oregon Pride, the annual Monster Dash, and one last First Friday Silent Disco, along with Halloween traditions that spill out from downtown to the Plaza at the park entrance.
Featured Events in Lithia Park – October 2026
• Lithia Artisans Market (Saturdays & Sundays, 10am–5pm) – at the front of the park long Winburn Way
A longtime local favorite featuring handcrafted goods, local artists, food vendors, and live music in a relaxed open-air setting. June weekends are especially busy as summer visitors begin arriving in Ashland.
• First Friday Silent Disco (Friday, October 2, 5–10pm) – at the front of the park long Winburn Way
One last chance to dance under the trees before the Silent Disco season wraps up. Bring your dancing shoes and settle in for an all-ages evening of DJ music streamed through wireless headphones. This is the final First Friday Silent Disco of the year.
• Southern Oregon Pride Parade & Festival (Saturday, October 17)
Southern Oregon Pride returns to Ashland for a full week of celebrations, with the centerpiece happening downtown on October 17. The Pride Parade begins at noon on Main Street and makes its way toward Lithia Park, followed by the free, all-ages Pride Festival at the Butler Bandshell from 1–5:30pm. Expect music, performances, food vendors, community booths, and plenty of colorful celebration.
• Monster Dash Run for Education (Saturday, October 24, 8:45am–12:15pm)
Costumes, running shoes, and a little friendly competition come together for Ashland’s 18th annual Monster Dash. Choose from a 10K, 5K, or 1-mile run, then stick around for the Activity Village, live music at the Bandshell, and the costume contest. Proceeds support grants for Ashland Public Schools.
• Informal music and small performances
With warm weather settling in, the Butler Bandshell and nearby lawn areas often host casual performances and community music gatherings, especially on weekends. Keep an ear open while walking the trails, too — you never know when you’ll come across a guitarist, violinist, or busker tucked into a shady corner of the park.
🎃 Halloween in Downtown Ashland
If you’re visiting Ashland with kids, Halloween afternoon is one of those little local traditions worth knowing about.
On Saturday, October 31, Ashland’s annual Halloween Children’s Parade & Celebration begins at the Ashland Public Library at 3:30pm, then heads down East Main Street toward the Plaza at the entrance to Lithia Park. Children and families are invited to come in costume and join the procession – or simply line the route and enjoy the parade.
Once the parade reaches downtown, the fun continues with trick-or-treating at participating local businesses. It’s a sweet, easygoing way to spend Halloween afternoon before heading back out for whatever your evening plans may be. Costumes are encouraged, of course.
